This evening I was thrilled to be invited to the 61st Evening Standard Theatre Awards. After a fabulous year of London Theatre, I was excited see who would pick up a prestigious award for their ability to bring magic to the stage. Presented by Rob Brydon and co-hosted by Evgeny Lebedev, Dame Judi Dench and Sir Ian McKellen, the glittering ceremony was held at the Old Vic in partnership with The Ivy and what a fabulous evening it was.
Not short of stars, there were appearances from Gillian Anderson, Ralph Fiennes, Dominic West, Nicole Kidman, Dame Shirley Bassey and Ruth Wilson who all looked rather lovely in their finery.
There were performances from Pixie Lott singing ‘Moon River’ from the upcoming Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Also a spine-tingling performance from Imelda Staunton singing ‘Everything’s Coming Up Roses’ from Gypsy.
Now on to the most important question of who was honoured this evening…
